Pilar Pobil Documentary plus Monica Pasqual Duo in Concert

  • Salt Lake Jewish Community Center 2 North Medical Drive Salt Lake City, UT, 84113 United States (map)

TICKETS & INFORMATION

Join us for the Utah premier of a documentary about Pilar Pobil. The film will be followed with a live performance by Pobil's daughter Monica Pasqual and cellist Joshua McClain

Pilar Pobil is a Spanish-born artist who has created art for almost all of her 91 years. Since the late 1950s she has lived, raised a family and worked as an artist in Utah. Her home has become a vital part of Salt Lake City's arts community, history and legacy. In 2015 the King of Spain awarded her the Cross of the Officer of the Royal Order of Queen Isabella.

Monica Pasqual & Joshua McClain Duo combines the original works of both artists into one seamless show featuring Pasqual's songs & stories with McClain's instrumental compositions. Both artists started their careers in classical music before moving into the worlds of alternative folk and rock, an influence that is obvious in their seemingly effortless musical connection.

"There's a rare elegance and subtle drama to her lyrics. The melodies sway and soar, haunting in one moment, majestic in the next...Pasqual is a very special artist, exploring love, loss and life in profoundly moving ways. To know her music is to love it. Far more people should get to know it."
